Texas Grand Jury Proves to be Idiots

Let me preface this very opinionated news post with the fact that I am a 6th generation Texan and I currently live in a suburb of Dallas. I am fairly sure that everyone is aware of one asshat, that tweeted an flashing gif file to another asshat that happened to be epileptic. Apparently the asshat that sent the gif is located here in the Greatest State in the Union, and has since been arrested for this and charged. And today a most-wise Texas Grand Jury has proclaimed said gif a "Deadly Weapon."

A Texas grand jury has decided that a GIF can be just as deadly as a gun or knife.

The U.S Department of Justice and a Dallas grand jury issued indictments Monday against John Rayne Rivello, who is accused of intentionally tweeting a Graphic Interchange Format (GIF) animation designed to Newsweek journalist Kurt Eichenwald in order to provoke an epileptic seizure.

While pulling this kind of stuff is certainly not cool, but I would suggest that anyone with epilepsy would be wise to make sure their browsers or devices did not animate such graphics. It is not hard to protect yourself against such "attacks." As for the man being charged and this being considered a deadly is simply asinine at best. Thanks Texas.
