PlayStation 3 Production Ending Soon in Japan

Sony had originally declared that the PlayStation 3 would be a "ten-year console," and it looks like they weren’t kiddingآ—the system is now getting killed off after being around for just over a decade. Launching in 2006, the PS3 introduced neat features such as Blu-ray playback, but the system was difficult to develop for and initially struggled against the Xbox 360. It did, however, manage to sell and offered a substantial library of noteworthy exclusives, such as the Uncharted series.

PlayStation 3 first launched in November 2006.
