Marvel Releases First Look at Avengers: Infinity War

Judging by this sneak peak, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Star Lord will be facing off against a giant purple eggplant in the next Avengers filmآ—I am literally shaking. Based on Marvel’s track record, it is hard to imagine that they could screw this up in any way (financially, at least), but ol’ Thanos looks like he needs some tweaking if they want me to buy that he is a threat to Thor, Dr. Strange, and the billion other characters that this one is supposed to include. (The cinematography and action editing in Civil War was absolutely atrocious, so I wish they got someone like Gunn to do this instead.)

"Avengers: Infinity War is the culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe as started in May of 2008 with the release of Iron Man 1, and it really is an unprecedented culmination of a series of films interlinked together, which at the time had never been done before. And for us the important thing is making it all come together. We know they’re gonna face Thanos; we’ve been setting that up since Avengers 1. How do you do that in a way that is unexpected, that pits the Avengers against somebody who is more powerful than anyone they’ve faced, and yet make them completely unprepared to face them? Well, tear them apart, which is why we did Civil War before Infinity Warآ… Thanos shows us why he’s the biggest, the best, the baddest villain that we’ve ever had, and the most frightening villain that the Avengers have ever faced."
