Classic Mac Startup Chime Not Present in New MacBook Pros

Okay, we gave Apple crap when they deleted the headphone jack on the new iPhones. We even poked a little fun at the crew in Cupertino for charging $25 for a cable to connect an iPhone to a MacBook Pro. The iconic chiming startup sound was originally made to indicate that diagnostic tests have found no hardware or software issues. A similar sound has accompanied almost every Mac boot sequence since 1991 and the most recent F-sharp chord incarnation was first used in the iMac G3.
