U.S. Auctioning $1.6M Of Bitcoin From Various Cases

Dear criminals, the government would appreciate it if you would just go back to using cash for all your criminal endeavors so they don't have to resort to auctioning off bitcoin. Damn cybercriminals are so inconsiderate these days. big grin

The U.S. government said on Monday it plans to auction over 2,700 bitcoins that were forfeited during several cases, several of which stemmed from investigations of the online black market known as Silk Road. The U.S. Marshals Service said that the online auction would be held on Aug. 22, and that potential bidders must register by Aug. 18. The bitcoin are worth about $1.6 million, according to the Bitstamp exchange.
