How The Internet Is Changing The English Language

At first, no one wants to believe the internet is changing the English language. But then came all the entries in the dictionary like "LOL, 1337 and pwned." Then it was actually hearing someone say "LOL" in public. Now it's just all the words that were made up on the internet that are being used every day IRL.

Thanks to the Internet, a previously undeveloped area of English languageآ—informal writingآ—is blossoming. It began with ‘netspeak,’ shortening words to single letters, eliminating vowels from other words. Now, thanks to developments in technology and just the sheer amount of information that gets onto the web every day, linguistic trends are as varied and numerous as the websites that spawn them.
