Google Drops Free Fiber Option In Kansas City

Remember that Google Fiber option in Kansas City that allowed you to pay a one-time construction fee and you'd get free internet after that? Well, it looks like Google is dropping that option in favor of a 100Mbps option for $50 per month starting in May. Existing customers get to keep their free service until the original 7 year agreement expires.

Ever since Google began providing the residents in Kansas City the option of signing on for its Fiber service in 2011, the tech company has offered a hard-to-refuse deal: pay a one-time installation fee, and you get internet access for free آ– in some cases up to seven years. But it looks like the almost-free ride is over.
