More Than 30 Colleges Ban Hoverboards Over Fire Risks

They should also be banned for making you look ridiculous.

Due to safety concerns about the use of hoverboards آ— two-wheel, self-balancing electric boards آ— a growing number of schools are implementing campus or partial-campus bans on the devices. There have been reports of some spontaneously igniting during use or while charging and, on Dec. 16, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that it’s investigating 28 fires in 19 states caused by hoverboards. There have also been at least "70 ER-related injuries" from the scooters, according to the commission.
