The US Is Testing a Storm Surge Warning System for Hurricanes

For all of you that live on the East and Gulf coasts, the National Weather Service is about to test a new system that will warn coast dwellers of an impending hurricane storm surge. If all tests are successful, the new warning system will be in place for the 2017 hurricane season.

The prototype watch and warning map will be available on the National Hurricane Center’s website, where it will be accessible to the public, media, and local weather forecasters.
