Controlling Chaos with Global Rights to All Wiki Platforms

Wikimedia properties (including Wikipedia) are publically-editable and curated by a fleet of volunteer editors. However, what's little known are the stewards: 36 users with "global rights" to edit anything. Medium has a great article about them and what they do.

"One thing though that you shouldn’t forget," a steward who goes by the username Trijnstel told me. "We have indeed a couple of extra rights, but in theory it doesn’t make us more important than other editors. Consultation with community is key so the regular editors have a voice, through us."
