Intel Developers Gain Recognition for Internet of Things Water Conservation App.

A team of engineers from the Intel Services group placed first at the TechCrunch Disrupt 2014 hackathon for an application they created called Shower with Friends. Built using an Intelآ® Galileo Gen 2 development board, the Intel team turned their attention to water conservation, creating a fun way for friends to compare their actual water usage. The app makes use of sensors connected to home water lines and social networking to encourage people to change their water usage behavior. Using the app, people can time their showers and receive text messages about their usage. Information collected by the application can be shared with friends to compare and determine who took the shortest shower, thus conserving the most water.
