Mozilla's Persona Single Sign-On Service Enters Beta

How would you like to surf the web, go to all of your favorite sites and never have to enter a password? Mozilla agrees with you and has been working on what was originally called Browser ID back in 2011 to give you an email-based Internet identity sans passwords. A year later with many improvements, a new name and Persona is out for Beta testing.

Once a user has signed up for Persona and registered an email address, all it takes to login to a website that supports the service are two mouse clicks. No passwords are ever entered.
