Helium Shortage Prompts Scientist's Balloon Use Warning

Okay, now this is getting serious when scientists warn that filling party balloons with helium is contributing to an impending shortageآ…. in 30 to 50 years. Well gee, thanks for the last minute heads up. big grin The future helium shortage could affect the super cooling MRI scanners all the way to the production of rocket fuel.

"We're not going to run out of helium tomorrow - but on the 30 to 50 year timescale we will have serious problems of having to shut things down if we don't do something in the meantime."
