US Warns Users of New Citadel Ransomware

You really have to admire the tenacity of malware distributors, for their adaptability, if for nothing else. Money extortion malware has been around a good while now and when one variant wears thin, another pops up to take its place. This specific one targets users who visit or stumble across child porn sites.

Since its public release, the Zeus source code has served as base for the development other Trojans, including Ice IX and now Citadel. Cyberthreat management firm Seculert said it had identified more than 20 botnets that use different versions of this Trojan.
