Columbia and Stanford Creating $30 Million Institute

Two of the leading universities in the US are teaming up to create the brand new genre of Media Innovation, a collaboration between Columbia’s journalism and Stanford’s technology disciplines. The principle of joining the two is to look beyond the boundaries of each, looking for new and inventive ways to improve both.

Technology has caused journalism some growing pains, with the rise of bloggers and the plethora of ever-adapting social media tools. The Institute was created to recognize this disconnect and bring the two closer together.
