Today is the 10th Anniversary of Microsoft’s Security Directive

Today, attention to security is of paramount importance in all areas of computing and that is pretty much taken for granted. It hasn’t always been that way. Today is the 10th anniversary of Bill Gates redirecting Microsoft to design everything with security in mind from the ground up.

The directive followed a period during which Redmond took a sustained shelling over the instability and insecurity of its software, especially in Internet Explorer and Outlook, highlighted by the damage caused by high-profile malware outbreaks.
