Scientists Create World's Tiniest Ear

Have you ever wondered what those pesky microbes are saying about you as they infect your body? Well, if a new adaptation of an older technology pans out, you may just get your chance to find out. Scientists have developed a sensing device that can detect sound a million times fainter than the human ear can, enabling it to ‘hear’ on the molecular level.

Researchers suggest the work could open up a whole new field of "acoustic microscopy," in which organisms are studied using the sound they emit.
