Appeal Denied: Facebook Identity Theft a Felony Conviction

California laws are getting tougher on identity theft, extending to the internet. A teenager broke into a Facebook account and impersonated the owner, effectively stealing her identity. This little stunt earned him a three month to a year stay in Juvy, plus probation. Ouch!

The defendant admitted that he intended the posts to "be a joke." However, it seems that now the appeals court has denied his appeal, leaving him with a felony conviction. Looks like the joke is on him.
