Apple Bans DUI Checkpoint Apps from the App Store

Last month we ran a story on a ‘request’ from a group of US Senators for the removal of Checkpoint Apps from online stores. Bowing to the pressure from the group of Senators, Apple has removed DUI Checkpoint Apps from the App Store. The now banned Apps list the locations of police drunk driving checkpoints within a predefined area like a county or city.

Some police departments actually supply the data used in such apps because they reduce the number of drunk drivers on the roads!
