Thermaltake Toughpower iRGB Plus 1250W Titanium PSU

Thermaltake's new Toughpower computer power supply comes complete with Frag Harder Disco Lights, but what we want to know is how does it do when it comes to delivering clean and efficient power to your system. This new 1250 watt PSU has fully modular individually sleeved cables and has plenty of power where you need it.

Today, Thermaltake Technology Company is back for another trip through our power supply testing program with a more value oriented product than we last saw. As a company, Thermaltake has a rather short history being founded in just 1999, but in that short time it has grown rapidly. While Thermaltake's primary focus has been on thermal solutions, it has for some time now maintained a group of product lines dedicated to power supplies. The early power supplies in these lines were often of lower quality but over the years Thermaltake has taken its power supply business in a new, and quite frankly better, direction as it has paired with higher quality OEMs like CWT and Enhance. Today, we are looking at a new product that is part of the new Toughpower iRGB Plus series of power supplies from Thermaltake and we start with the 1250W model (TPI-1250D-T or TPG-1250DH3FCT or PS-TPI-1250DPCTXX-T).

Channel Well Technology (CWT) was founded and began manufacturing power supplies in 1993. Since 1993 Channel Well Technology products have shown up under various guises including Antec, Xclio, 2theMax, CWT, Thermaltake, Xigmatek, Thermaltake, and Corsair. While most familiar to our US users from when they used to provide OEM services for Antec, CWT is one of the more complete OEM manufacturers as they have a fairly high level of vertical integration providing transformers all the way up to its well designed independently regulated SMPS.

The Thermaltake Toughpower iRGB Plus 1250W is the first product we have seen from Thermaltake's new flagship product line (the Toughpower iRGB Plus) and, at 1250W, it is also the largest capacity model in the line. The Toughpower iRGB Plus 1250W though is far from the first 1200W or larger power supply we have seen from Thermaltake. In fact, a good portion of the units we have seen from Thermaltake over the years have been in the larger capacity range. So, this is not a realm where Thermaltake is exactly a stranger. It is, however, a realm where expectations will be high and where people often will look for new features to first pop up. So, let's see what Thermaltake has to say about this unit, its product placement, and its advertised features:

The Thermaltake Toughpower iRGB PLUS 1250W Titanium is the world’s first PSU pre-installed with a patented 16.8 million colors RGB fan that incorporate various high-tech components, leading technology and eco-friendly commendations. Featuring 80 PLUS Titanium certification with individually sleeved cable and flat cable, Toughpower iRGB PLUS Titanium Series adopts the highest quality components and fully modular design that always accommodate any mainstream build under any circumstance.

With that said, let's take a look at what we get when we purchase the Thermaltake Toughpower iRGB Plus 1250W power supply in terms of documentation, accessories, cable count, rail layout, output characteristics, and general build quality.
