AMD Radeon RX Vega GPU Specs and Pricing Revealed

AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 and 56 information and pricing and availability has been announced from Siggraph. At least we know what is coming now. We will talk about it, show you the complete presentations, including architecture, for your viewing pleasure. Let’s see what AMD has up its sleeve for the August 14th release of the AMD Vega GPU lineup.

Introduction

Vega is a star in the constellation Lyra. It is one of the five brightest stars in the night sky. Vega is also the codename, also the architecture name, and also the product name of AMD’s next series of GPUs. Similar to prior AMD Radeon Fury and Fury X product lines "Vega" will be the specific GPU naming for this series of Vega GPUs. There will be several performance levels of Vega 10 architecture GPUs.

AMD Radeon RX Vega is the sequel to AMD Radeon RX Polaris architecture GPUs. It exceeds Polaris in features, architecture and performance. However, RX Vega is a continuation and evolution of the GCN (Graphics Core Next) architecture introduced back in 2012 with the AMD Radeon HD 7900 Tahiti GPU that all subsequent GPUs from AMD have been based on. A brand new complete re-architecture or "generational" change in the classic term, this is not.

The product lineup, and pricing, starting at the top will be:

AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid Cooled - $699

AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 Limited Edition - $599 (bundle)

AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 - $499

AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 - $399

The AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid Cooled video card will have the highest clock speeds out of the bunch and be the fastest Vega GPU for gaming. The AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 Limited Edition and AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 share the same specifications and clock speeds and are both air cooled. The only difference between those two video cards is with the cooling shroud. The Limited Edition will have a brushed aluminum shroud, and the regular one will be the standard plastic and rubber combination shroud. The two air cooled Radeon RX Vega 64 video cards should both perform the same. Lastly, the AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 will be the slowest Vega GPU currently, and the most affordable. Availability of Vega will supposedly be August 14th, 2017.
