AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Video Card Review

The new AMD Radeon R9 295X2 contains two Radeon R9 290X GPUs on a single video card package that utilizes liquid cooling for the best GPU performance. We compare it to NVIDIA's competitive configuration and see just how well it performs at both huge 4K resolutions and in an Eyefinity setup.

Evaluation Method

We evaluate what each video card configuration can supply us in terms of a playable gaming experience while supplying the best culmination of resolution and "eye candy" graphical settings. We focus on quality and immersion of the gameplay experience rather than how many frames per second the card can get in a canned benchmark or prerecorded timedemo situation that often do not represent real gameplay like you would experience at home. Then we will follow with apples-to-apples testing in with minimum, maximum, and average framerates.

Test System Setup

For all AMD Radeon video cards we are using the supplied AMD Catalyst 14.4 Beta Driver for testing.

For the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti SLI configuration we are using the new ForceWare 337.50 Beta drivers.

All testing and data was performed under these new drivers from AMD and NVIDIA for the absolute latest performance.
