SilverStone Raven 2 Evolution Enthusiast Case Review
SilverStone continues to take DIY tower style computer cases and put its own spin on those, literally. The Raven series of chassis rotates the motherboard 90 degrees and what results are better airflow and IO panel positioning for many users. We have used these at HardOCP and truly like the Raven series chassis.
The SilverStone Technology name is synonymous with high quality power supplies and innovative computer cases. Founded in 2003, the company offers a complete line of power supplies, coolers, fans, computer cases and accessories. As most of you know, we have spent a great deal of time with the company's products, mainly its world class power supplies, but today we are here to talk about one of the company's truly unique computer cases, the Raven 2 Evolution. Many of you will notice that this is a newer version of the case that Kyle for his "Quiet" Galaxy GeForce GTX 480 SLI project a while back as well.

Raven 2 Evolution Specifications:
On the test bench today, we have the Raven 2 Evolution. This is an updated version of the original Raven 2 chassis, sporting a number of new features such as a redesigned hard drive system, upgraded cooling fans and USB 3.0, just to name a few. Essentially, this case is the direct result of SilverStone listening to feedback from its customers and implementing those changes. The results are what you see here today.
The Raven 2 was shipped in its bare product packaging. The box itself is made of double-walled corrugated cardboard with dual staple construction along the seams. The overall measurements are 29"H x 22.5"L x 12.5"W.
The outside of the package prominently features the product image, logo and a list of specifications and features in several languages. Both the front and back are virtually identical. Inside, the case is wrapped in a soft fabric bag and held in place by thick foam inserts.
NOTE: While shipping a case in its product packaging is done primarily to cut down on costs, we have stated repeatedly that we are not fans of the practice because of damage that can occur during shipping. SilverStone is not the only company to do this, it is practically an industry standard now to ship cases this way. In our opinion, we think that a few extra dollars for an added layer of protection could cut down on shipping related damages and claims.
The box was a bit worse for wear with obvious impact damage and a few puncture holes here and there, but there was no actual damage to the case itself.
