Kingwin does not bring a huge number of power supplies for review, but when it does bring one to our attention it is usually a very worthy competitor. Today is no different. This new 1 kilowatt computer power supply brandishes sought after modular connections along with a very efficient design that has very much impressed us.
The Kingwin Stryker 500W Power Supply is a mid-powered computer PSU built specifically for those enthusiasts looking for quality power. The big feature here is that this unit is fanless, that means zero moving parts. If you are looking for silent in the 500 watt and up range, this is a good start.
Kingwin does not really have too much to say about its new LZP-550 PSU. One thing that will surely catch your enthusiast eye is the fact that this is likely the first 80Plus Platinum rated power supply you have seen in the overclockers realm. No matter how you look at it, 1 kilowatt, or 1000 watts, it is a lot of power that most computer enthusiasts will never need. Rest assured though, some of us do need all that power and we are generally very picky about that much power gets delivered to our enthusiast computer builds. Kingwin's LZ-1000 is up to that job?
Kingwin has come to us with its power supplies before, and while that 800w unit did OK, it was not exactly anything we would consider an award winner. Today we have another Kingwin weighing in at a huge ~1200 watts. Can you say "Torture Test at 45C and 960 watts?” Fire extinguisher. Check! Let's get it on.
Kingwin is better known for hard drive enclosures and 12v case fans than computer power supplies. Is that coming to an end as it steps into the high end PSU ring with a very flashy unit that brings with it a hopefully stable 800 watts of power?
