Wi-Fi Signals Can Help Count People In A Crowd
Researchers from University of California Santa Barbara say they have developed a way to use Wi-Fi to count the number of people in a given location.
"Our approach can estimate the number of people walking in an area, based on only the received power measurements of a Wi-Fi link," said Yasamin Mostofi, professor of electrical and computer engineering. This approach does not require people to carry Wi-Fi-enabled devices for them to be counted.
