NSA and GCHQ Earn Internet Villain Awards

The UK’s Internet Service Providers Association’s 16th annual gathering this week provided a bit of a fitting tribute to the NSA and its British counterpart, GCHQ by presenting the pair with the Internet Villain Award for their combined conspicuous services to the Internet in helping to keep it safe to use. The awards were accepted in absentia by Big Brother Watch. big grin

Last year, ISPA gave its Internet Villain award to Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his heavy-handed censorship of the internet in Turkey, which included attempts to block Twitter and Facebook.
