Netflix Could Be Classified As a 'Cybersecurity Threat'

Cybersecurity Information Protection Act of 2014 is written so broadly that a streaming service such as Netflix could, under the rules, be considered a cyber-threat. This would make it very legal for ISP’s to slow down the streaming and eliminate the ‘threat’. Another attempted end run around the already voted down CISPA bill.

A 'threat,' according to the bill, is anything that makes information unavailable or less available. So, high-bandwidth uses of some types of information make other types of information that go along the same pipe less available.
