Google Starts Testing Its ‘Wi-Fi Balloons’ in California
Google’s Project Loon is getting off the ground, both literally and figuratively in California this week. The testing of the giant balloon technology platforms is taking place simultaneously in New Zealand and Africa as part of a program to bring wireless Internet to areas of the world that can’t support standard methods of Internet connection.
Google is said to be trying to win over regulators to launch its wireless networks on airwaves that are typically reserved for TV broadcasts.
