Google Acquires Facial Recognition Company PittPatt

PittPatt has announced on its website that the company has been acquired by Google. The company specializes in facial recognition software, and even though Google has stated publically it would not be likely to use facial recognition, Google now owns the very company that can expand face detection and tracking applications.

But in May, Google Chairman Eric Schmidt said the company is "unlikely to employ facial recognition programs."
