US House Approves Patent Reform Bill

In what will be viewed as a big win for large corporations with deep pockets, the U.S. House of Representatives approved a bill to revamp the patent system. It will no longer be a question of who get to the patent office first with an invention, but rather who actually did the majority of the innovative work. The Senate has already passed a similar bill and now will await debate.

Opponents of the legislation argued the legislation will hurt small inventors in favor of large corporations. Opponents offered several amendments in an attempt to water down the bill, but the amendments failed.
