Does Eric Schmidt Speak for Google on Copyright?

The entertainment industry seems to think they are being double crossed by Google because Schmidt says crazy stuff. Where have these guys been for the last decade, Schmidt is the king of saying crazy stuff.

He compared such laws with those employed by countries with repressive governments, such as China. To astonished copyright owners, Schmidt's message was clear. He was bashing a bill that copyright owners big and small see as vital in fighting intellectual property theft online, a bill that others at Google had offered conditional support for only a month earlier. Some smelled a double cross.
