Microsoft Takes Patent Battle to Supreme Court
Microsoft is heading to the U.S. Supreme Court today to see if it can get a $200 million patent infringement case overturned. Could this be strike three for the software giant?
In 2007, i4i sued Microsoft, claiming that the software giant violated one of its patents covering the way XML, or extensible markup language, is used in its Word program. A jury ruled in i4i's favor, prompting a Microsoft appeal, which it also lost. Microsoft petitioned the Supreme Court to take up the case, which it agreed to do last November.
