Happy Birthday FTP

File Transfer Protocol just celebrated its 40th birthday. The FTP standard was published April 16th 1971 and has been modified, but remains remarkably close to the original concept. It is still in use today, running in some large background file transfers. You have had a long and useful life. cool

Even though young upstarts such as P2P networks are now available, it’s FTP that forms the link to many cloud-based services and applications
