Copyright Claims Are Out of Control
Just when you thought this case couldn't get any worse, the courts have ruled this woman forfeited attorney client privilege and must turn over even MORE documents related to discussions between her and her lawyers. All of this because of a YouTube video with her children dancing in the kitchen with Prince playing in the background.
Lenz's copyright story began in 2007. YouTube removed her 30-second clip from the video-sharing site after receiving a take-down notice from Universal and Prince, who claimed the snippet violated their copyrights. To qualify for the Digital Millennium Copyright Act's safe harbor provision, service providers must remove pirated material when notified by copyright owners.
