London Times’ Paid Online Readership "Disappointing"

Newspapers don’t seem to be having much luck charging for online content. The New York Observer, after putting up a pay wall, had only 35 subscribers after three weeks. eek!

In the first two weeks of the paywall, 15,000 paying customers have reportedly signed on to hand over their money to Murdoch. That’s about 10 percent of the people who reportedly registered during the free trial period, and a mere 1.2 percent of its total audience from the time before the paywall went up.
