4G Off to a Slow Start

4G, which boosts impressive speeds over its 3G ancestor, is off to a slow start due to a lack of anxious investors. The new tech requires costly hardware updates for the networks to be compatible, and is seeing a slow migration due to wary carriers. I think we all know the real reason people aren’t clamoring for 4G though: no porn on the iPad.

To roll out a fourth-generation network costs around $2.47bnper 50 million inhabitants - a cost the companies, which also have to spend to acquire the 4G licences, are not eager to take on.
