Terry Childs Found Guilty In SF Computer Tampering Trial

Remember the admin that wouldn’t cough up the password for the city of San Francisco’s network (for 12 days) until the mayor with intervened? He was found guilty yesterday of computer tampering and faces two to five years in prison. Thanks to Joshua Szanto for the link.

"You do not ever give up your username and password," Childs said. City officials worried at the time of Childs' arrest that he could have installed "traps" on the network that would shut the city down during a power outage. The city was locked out of the network for 12 days, but no harm ever became of the system. Childs agreed to give the passwords to Mayor Gavin Newsom while in jail on July 21, 2008.
