Finally - News on Samsung Thin Bezel Displays is Suckage

Word last year was that the new Samsung thin-bezels displays we saw with the launch of ATI Eyefinity technology would be in the $1000 range and available at Christmas...2009. Well it looks like the only thing is carrying over is that fact that these displays are "thin-bezel," or less than 10mm on all sides. Samsung said:

Here is the correct information on the Samsung MD230 that features AMD and ATI's Eyefinity technology. The release date is March 2010. The price for the 23" 3-screen configuration is $1,899.00. I've attached a press release with more detailed information.

Holy sheepdip Batman! $1900?!?!?!

The PR, which is not available on Samsung's site, was released on January 6, 2010.

LAS VEGAS, January 6, 2010 – Samsung Electronics America Inc., a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Corporation, the number one worldwide display products brand, launched its Samsung Syncmaster MD230 Monitor at the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The CES Innovation Award winning 23" monitor is designed specifically for multi-screen computing. It is sold in bundles of three and six with custom stand included and is designed specifically to meet the needs of the power gamer, as well as business users with multi-screen desktop set-ups. It was designed with AMD and ATI’s Eyefinity technology bringing the big screen to your desktop.

"AMD and ATI took the first steps with the development of the Eyefinity technology and combining that with Samsung’s leadership in display and image quality has created an ideal large viewing experience for desktop users," said Rick Bergman, senior vice president, AMD Products Group. "The MD230’s smooth images when looking across multi-screens are exactly what we were looking for when we designed the Eyefinity."

If you are looking for alternatives, you can go full out for around $750 for Dell 23" displays or about $630 for Dell 20" displays with DP.
