AMD Reveals More Details on CPU/GPU Fusion

At AMD’s Financial Analyst Day this past Wednesday, they revealed more details about their upcoming Fusion program and how it’s different from Intel’s Larrabee. Ars Technica attended the break-out session and shares their observations and some slides from the presentation.

Akrout and I discussed AMD's overall strategy with Fusion, which he described as incremental advances with a strong focus on open standards and compatibility with existing workloads, methods, and programming models. Akrout was clearly not a fan of Intel's approach with Larrabee, which asks everyone to immediately and completely rewrite their renderers to fit Intel's hardware if they want to take full advantage of the technology.
