Researchers Say Tetris Is Good For The Brain

A new study out by a nonprofit group has found that Tetris is good for the brain. They have scientific data, like graphs, charts and pictures of a brain (some with fancy colors) to back up these claims. Seemed reasonable to me until I read the part about the study being funded by the company that owns the rights to Tetris. frown

Using a 3T MRI, we obtained structural and functional images in adolescent girls before and after practice on a visual-spatial problem-solving computer game, Tetris. After three months of practice, compared to the structural scans of controls, the group with Tetris practice showed thicker cortex, primarily in two areas: left BAs 6 and 22/38.
