Tech Leaders that Jumped into Politics

Not only is California a hotbed for technology; it’s also a launch pad for political careers with Carly Fiorina, former CEO of HP, running for US Senate and Meg Whitman, former CEO of eBay, running for Governor. PC World has an article that takes a look at other tech leaders that made the jump into politics and how they did. Interesting stuff.

After becoming active in anti-Catholic and anti-immigration movements, Morse unsuccessfully ran for mayor of New York City in 1836 and 1841. Despite his political failures, Morse in 1842 was able to convince Congress to provide $30,000 to wire up the United States in support of his telegraph system.
