More Patent Lawsuits Hit Microsoft

East Texas not only has punishing humidity, it apparently also has punishing courts when it comes to patent infringement. Two more lawsuits were filed against Microsoft in the same court district that features the Word case. One filing against MS includes Southwest Airlines and Scottrade. Like to argue about words? Maybe a patent law career is in your future. wink

Patent-infringement lawsuits against larger companies have a history of being won in that part of the Texas court system. In 2006, Microsoft and Nintendo were ordered to pay $21 million to Anascape, a small IT outfit, for violating a patent related to game controllers; as recently as July, another tiny company,Tsera, sued Microsoft, Apple and 21 other tech companies over a touch-screen patent.
