Microsoft To Open Retail Stores Near Apple Stores

I guess if putting your business across the street from a competitor works for Home Depot (vs. Lowe’s), TGI Friday’s (vs Applebee’s) and 7-11 (vs Circle K) it can work for Microsoft (vs Apple). I’d expect a Microsoft OS section, hardware section, tech support, a Zune music lounge and a Xbox 360 gaming section. Hey, an MS store actually sounds pretty good.

Microsoft COO Kevin Turner mentioned this during his keynote at Microsoft's Worldwide Partner Conference today. "And stay tuned, because we're going to have some retail stores opened up that are opened up right next door to Apple stores this fall."
