ATM Vendor Gets Security Talk Pulled From Conferences

How anyone can act surprised that Defcon and Black Hat yanked a live demonstration on hacking current ATM machines is beyond me. It’s not like this is the first time it has happened and it definitely isn’t the last. I’m not saying it should have been pulled, I am saying people shouldn’t be surprised when it happens.

Juniper Networks says it pulled a talk on a flaw in ATM software one of its researchers was scheduled to give at the security conferences at the end of July after the ATM vendor complained. In his presentation entitled "Jackpotting Automated Teller Machines," Barnaby Jack was planning to discuss local and remote attack vectors on ATMs and provide a live demonstration of an attack on an unmodified ATM.
