RIM’s Outlook Reflects Strong BlackBerry Demand
Research In Motion’s Q3 profits were in line with forecasts and more importantly, their future outlook was better than expected, indicating strong BlackBerry sales during the holiday season despite the global economic slowdown. They expect Q4 revenue of $3.3-3.5 billion while analysts predicted $2.97 billion.
The fourth-quarter forecast has extra importance this year. RIM has a range of new BlackBerries on the market, while the mood for consumer and business spending is uncertain at best. The company has trimmed prices and benefited from heavy promotion from wireless carriers offering its products.
