Cool Stuff in Austin, TX at Centaur

While we are still under NDA with VIA and can't reveal anything about this next-gen processor from VIA, we can show you something you don't see every day. Below is a processor die being installed on a nano-BGA package by "hand." The die is actually lined up by hand and mounted on the package before being tested. The young lady running the machine mentioned she had hit the last 203 out of 206 mounts successfully. Centaur here in Austin is actually taking silicon wafers built for VIA and qualifying them and packaging them here in Austin and then testing them in real computer systems in a matter of hours.
