UK Internet Sales Up 29 Percent In 2006

Internet sales in the across the pond rose sharply in 2006 (up 29 percent) compared to the previous year. The government report says that internet sales accounted for 6.5 percent of all nonfinancial sales in the United Kingdom.

Internet sales totaled 130.4 billion pounds ($270 billion) in 2006, compared with 101 billion pounds in the previous year, the Office for National Statistics said. Total internet sales as a percent of all were up from 5.4 percent in 2005 and 1.1 percent in 2002, the report said.
