Sony Denies Chip Operations Sale
Sony has denied rumors that it is selling its Cell chip operations to Toshiba. Reports yesterday indicated it was all but a done deal, going as far as listing a price of $870 million.
Sony is looking at ways to improve its chip operations but has reached no decision, the company said Tuesday, denying Japanese media reports that it has a deal to sell the business to Toshiba. Toshiba Corp. spokesman Keisuke Omori said nothing has been decided on such a deal.
To be fair, this is Sony we are talking about, a denial today almost certainly means that the opposite is going to happen sometime soon.
