I am kinda slow on the draw on this as it was released about 12 hours ago. AMD has "demonstrated" a 1.1GHz Athlon. We ain't in Kansas anymore girls. I would have to say that is some serious stuff. I contacted AMD and they air shipping an engineering sample directly to us immediately. Yeah right.... Here is the release from the AMD page.
"The demonstration of a 1.1GHz AMD Athlon processor manufactured in AMD's Dresden facility shows we are executing on our process technology and Dresden production roadmaps," said Larry Hollatz, group vice president of Computation Products at AMD. "We continue to aggressively advance the technologies that enable future AMD processors to deliver superior performance levels."
AMD continues to expect first revenues from AMD Athlon family processors produced in Fab 30 utilizing its leading edge HiP6L 0.18 copper interconnect technology at the end of the second quarter of 2000.
CHUK looks at some current technology we are gonna see soon, if you are in the dark on some of the newer Vid Card stuff you will be seeing, they got some shots.
PiTT hooks us up with this! Voodoo3 3500 for $169. That is a damn sweet price. This is the one with all the video editing crap worked into it, not to mention it is pretty damn fast.
Here is an article over at The Northbridge that addresses our TnL Articles from the last couple of weeks, (here, here and here). They are on the right track but still miss the point. Here is a taste:
If we are seeing this you can only conclude one thing: T&L will be the future.
Well, it MIGHT be the future, but it damn sure is not the savior today. I do question these guys results since the link to the 2nd page of their article is busted. Can we think maybe these guys don't double check their work? (just giving them a hard time) Their results are pretty much correct their reasoning is just wrong IMO.
