Easy Bake Oven:

What do you get when you cross a Prescott CPU and a Small Form Factor PC? SFFTech thought it would be fun to find out so they donned their fireproof suits and asbestos gloves and ran some tests. I think it is safe to say it is not a good idea to mix the two without serious cooling. Here’s a quote:

Prescott and the SB75G2. A match made in heaven? Heck no. More like a match made in the fiery, and may I mention hot, depths of hell. It’s the opinion of this reviewer that those folks with today’s generation of small form factor systems give strong consideration before shelling out any money for Intel’s current line of Prescott processors.

HiS Excalibur 9600XT:

If you are shopping for a video card, there is no doubt you have at least looked into some flavor of Radeon 9600XT. Gruntville has the HiS Excalibur Radeon 9600XT in house for a round or two of testing. For those of you wondering, this card IS one of the 9600XT that has the HL2 voucher in the box.

As for the HIS Excalibur Radeon 9600XT, the only thing this card lacks is a big software bundle. However, it does come with the Half-Life2 voucher, which I am sure costs HIS as much as any software bundle of last years games would have and gives you something to look forward to.

Doom III Date:

Best Buy has updated their shipping date for people that pre-ordered Doom III. The new date shown is July 13th, 2004. Now, conventional wisdom says that Best Buy is in contact with Activision and that is the date they intend on shipping the game. Though that seems reasonable, you never know until it actually goes gold. What is the id Software catch phrase again? “When it’s Done”. Thanks to everyone who sent this one in.
